Summer so far!

We're halfway through the summer and what a fun time we've had in the studio!

This year, I've changed things up a bit with what I'm offering for our summer programme. Each year I try to offer a selection of camps that will provide opportunities to various children, not only in terms of different age groups but also in terms of content. So this summer, we have camps for 4-7years and 8-12yrs, and a new 'Dance Intensive' for children who prefer to focus more on developing dance skills.

I strive for my camps to have a real purpose, just like our classes. They're a chance for children to experience various dance styles and activities, be creative, and make new friends.

The social aspect is one of my favourite things to observe when running summer camps. Many of the children attend for a full week, and it's wonderful to see the progress - from Monday's shyness and apprehension, to Friday when they've developed new friendships and connected through dance.

This summer so far, we've welcomed several new faces but also many of our term-time dancers and lots of 'regular campers' who return every holiday! I think this says a lot about what the children gain from camp and the environment I strive to create.

Also similar to classes, camps offer a safe space where the children can be themselves without fear. For the children who attend a full week, that's 20 hours that they're in the studio: dancing, moving, socialising, being creative, using their bodies and not looking at a single screen!

We have 3 more weeks left of our summer programme before we prepare to resume term-time classes. Let's go! 🕺
