I think the week after a show is one of my favourite teaching weeks of the year; a week that has a celebratory feel to it and rightly so!

Following our show on Saturday, the children have been bouncing into class this week absolutely full of smiles and confidence! Even our quietest students have stood that little bit taller and had a quiet confidence about them. I've loved hearing them telling me how much fun they had and what their families thought of their performances. I've had a LOT of questions, asking: "when can we do the next one?" and "when can we start practising?" !

To me, this is goal accomplished. We work incredibly hard in the lead up to our shows, but as the director of a dance school which emphasises fun and freedom, I never want to lose sight of our ethos in our show preparations. For me it's so important to try to find a balance between keeping classes fun and creative, but at the same time teaching the value of hard work, persistence, aiming high and striving to put on a high-quality show.

The children's reactions this week prove that they're absolutely not afraid of hard work, and what a fantastic life skill this is!

Together, we made the process fun; we smiled, laughed (a lot!), and found ways to enjoy perfecting the routines.

Seeing everyone together on show day is the best part for me, watching one class after another step on stage and give fantastic performances. Every class and every dancer matched each other in energy and enthusiasm. From the audience's perspective, this is what makes for an enjoyable show. Indeed, the most frequently used feedback was "passion" and "enjoyment".

As cliche as it sounds, I really couldn't be prouder of our dancers. And all of it was in aid of CHAS - keep your eyes peeled for an amount reveal very soon!
