New term...same goals!

A more common phrase might be: "new term, new goals". A new term or new year can, understandably, be seen as a fresh start, a chance to start over, for students and teachers alike.

Indeed, there are many new things I'm looking forward to trying with our dancers this term. Although it's been a busy summer of holiday clubs, I've also been using the summer to update my knowledge and plan new things for our dancers: new moves, new dance games, new routines. I enjoy finding new and creative ways to teach skills and am excited to try them out with our dancers over the coming weeks.

However, for me and what I want to achieve with RMB Dance, the bigger goals remain the same. Whilst I feel it's important not to get too complacent,  I don't see the new term as a reason to change everything or start completely fresh. Also, with so many other changes for the children at this time of year with new schools/ classes, new teachers and new friends, I'd like to think dance class running in a familiar way is settling for them. So far this week, myself and our dancers have enjoyed being back in the studio and settling back into our familiar routine of classes.

With several new dancers joining us this term, for me it's particularly important they're experiencing RMB Dance as it always has been. I try to keep reminding myself what the overall aims of my classes are, and then plan accordingly.

All in all, I'm just so excited to keep expanding our community and seeing the children continue to develop. New term: let's go!
