With our show less than 3 weeks away, today's blog post talks about the charity we're fundraising for this year!
Each year our not-for-profit show is in aid of a different charity, and this year it's CHAS - Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.
I believe that our shows being charity focused gives us positive motivation, and a genuine drive and reason for our process. Whilst of course we're aiming to entertain and impress family/ friends, above all is the knowledge that this show is going to help others. This is something that we've been talking about in classes - that we're using our dancing to do something good and useful.
I know our dancers are very proud of this. Lots of them have told me that they've been telling their friends and school teachers that they're fundraising for CHAS, which I love! It also confirms my belief that children have so much kindness and empathy to share if given the opportunity, and dance class can be an opportunity!
CHAS is a children's charity providing palliative care to children and support to their families, across the whole of Scotland. They make it possible for children to have the freedom to be themselves, play outside, laugh, sparkle, smile, and have treasured moments of joy. They're committed to making sure that no matter how short their time may be, it's a time filled with happiness and fun.
We're living in challenging times, so rather than charging a set cost for tickets there will be a donation box at the show. Any contribution you can make will be much appreciated and all money will be donated, so we are asking our audience members to please give whatever you can.
Thank you in advance and please do visit CHAS' website to find out more about the wonderful work they do.
