We're only in the first month of 2025 and already some of our dancers have done their first performance of the year! We had the pleasure of visiting Braeburn Care Home to perform for the residents.

Some of our dancers did a care home performance last year, but for a couple of them this was their first performance of this kind. The children who did it last year enjoyed it so much that they were very keen to do another. So as soon as this opportunity came up, I said yes straight away!

This opportunity came about thanks to a parent of one of our dancers who put me in contact with the staff at Braeburn. I love that we have this community at RMB Dance where the parents are involved in our process and activities.

Arriving at Braeburn, we were made to feel so welcome and this definitely helped settle the children's nerves. I know that the children always want to do a good job with performances, so even though they were excited and happy to be there the nerves were understandable.

They all danced so nicely, and with big smiles on their faces too! I was delighted to see their joy, because even though they made it look so effortless and fun, I know that it was also a big step out of their comfort zone. I'm incredibly proud of the determination and bravery they showed.

The highlight for me, and I'd say for many others in the room too, was the final dance. We invited the residents to join in with the final dance - something we haven't done at a care home performance before - and what happened blew me away! The residents were moving, swaying, some of them copying the children's dancing, and singing along. I don't think the children realise just how beautiful it was, but it's a moment I'll remember for a long time.

Our visit to Braeburn confirmed my belief that dance can bring joy to everyone. This is what I want RMB Dance to be - a dance school which ignites a love of dance in our students and then uses it to do good and bring joy to others.

Well done to our dancers for this beautiful performance ❤️
