I’m Rachel and I am so excited to launch RMB Dance Edinburgh. The last day of 2020 seems an appropriate time to put up our first blog post – 2020 being the year I decided to start RMB Dance Edinburgh, and 2021 being the year we begin classes.
I finally decided to set up RMB Dance Edinburgh back in October, after some convincing from friends and family. Admittedly the unprecedented year that 2020 has been made me question my ability to get this up and running. However, I also realised that children’s physical and mental wellbeing is more important now than ever.
I've always loved the fact that dance can develop not only physical skills, but also confidence, resilience and social skills. That’s why I’m making it my mission to encourage children to find a love for movement, and provide dance classes that can benefit children's physical and mental health. RMB Dance Edinburgh will provide engaging dance classes in a non competitive environment; our Street Steppers classes will be full of energetic, creative fun (open for booking on the website).
Classes start on the 8th January – my original plan had been to start fresh in 2021, welcoming dancers into class and meeting lots of new faces in person. Sadly that's not quite going to be the case, but I’m still super excited. I'll deliver classes online for at least the first two weeks of term, and after that we’ll see how things progress as to whether we can begin in person or stay online a wee bit longer. I'm always one for seeing the positives, and on reflection perhaps online classes will be a great way of easing into classes without the pressure of new environment, new faces and new class all at once.
When we do manage to start in person, our lovely venue the Crags Centre has strict guidelines in place to help keep us safe, and I'm keeping class numbers small. Until then, I'd like to wish you a happy, safe and dance-filled 2021!
