End of Summer Term!

Updated: Jun 18, 2023

The summer holidays are fast approaching and we're heading into our last week of term classes! This has been our busiest term yet, with our show, classes,  birthday parties, and one-off events. But I wouldn't have had it any other way as I really have loved it all!

Predictably, my highlight was our first show in May and the achievement of raising £1,362 for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity. Furthermore, seeing how much the show meant to our dancers makes all the work worthwhile. They're still talking about it a lot and even still asking me to play the music in classes so they can recreate their routines!

For me the best part has been seeing our younger students attempting moves our older dancers did! They really love watching and supporting each other, and have genuine appreciation for each other's skills and achievements. In the dance world, competition is typically common and fierce. I like to think our classes offer an exception, where we focus on appreciation of each other rather than comparison to each other, and I've seen lovely evidence of that this term.

After the show, our dancers were straight back into classes determined to keep learning and developing their skills. We've also welcomed several new friends recently, who have all settled in extremely well! Our dance community is blossoming now; I've loved seeing friendships develop inside the studio, then continue outside the studio in the beautiful setting we're surrounded by.

On top of our regular classes, this term presented some fun one-off opportunities. I recently enjoyed running a dance session at Abbeyhill Primary School's summer garden party. I always appreciate the opportunity to share RMB Dance outwith our classes and get more people dancing!

Now, the focus turns to our summer programme and then next term, which has some exciting developments! The dancing never stops at RMB Dance!
