More exciting news...

A few days ago, I found out that RMB Dance has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Creative Edinburgh Awards! The award we're up for is 'The Community Award', which is "recognising the projects and people that create change and engage communities".

These awards celebrate all creative industries, not only dance, so to be recognised really is an honour and I'm extremely proud to be representing the dance sector. There are only 5 other finalists in the category, so to be in amongst them is still a little unbelievable.

When I started RMB Dance in 2021, the only thing I really knew was that I wanted it to be a friendly, inclusive place where anyone who wanted to dance had the opportunity to do so. Launching the dance school during a worldwide pandemic meant it was pretty much impossible to plan ahead. Instead, we've very much evolved as time as gone on, and, on reflection, I'd say that's been the best thing for us. I've been able to follow the children's interests and adapt creatively, rather than feel pressured to stick to a rigid plan. Now almost 5 years on, I'm delighted with what we've been able to achieve despite the challenges we faced in the beginning.

I'd like to think that I've stayed true to the original mission, and today our classes are filled with children from a hugely diverse range of backgrounds who all just love to dance. As a result, we've used our passion to bring joy to the wider community and I'm so incredibly proud of all our dancers and families who share my enthusiasm, embrace my ideas and encourage me to keep going.

The Awards ceremony will take place on Friday 14th November, and to make the evening even more special some of our dancers and parents will be coming along too! I'm very excited to experience this with them - we are a team so it seems only right to have some of them there. Let's go team!
