Party Time!

This month is a super-busy one for parties at RMB Dance, so it seems a great time for a party blog post!

Since I launched them, I've hosted many birthday parties across Edinburgh for several of our students as well as non-students. I think being invited to help make a child's day special is quite a responsibility! Even though I follow a similar structure at each party, I try to individualise them as much as possible to make them unique to the birthday child.

I'd safely say every party that I've hosted has been different, but they've all been so much fun! I've experienced such a variety, from parties in people's homes to parties in church halls, from superhero theme to princess theme to no specific theme; pretty much anything goes!

RMB Dance parties have the same aim as our classes, which is to create a positive, welcoming environment in which the children have a fun, engaging dance experience. Like our classes, my parties are kept to small numbers so that the experience is really worthwhile for the children.

Parties are run in two halves, with a food break in the middle, and filled with dance-based fun! One of my favourite parts is teaching the children a dance routine, which they then perform to their grown ups at the end of the party. The grown ups are often surprised by how much we've accomplished in such a short time! This is all part of my belief that children can have a worthwhile, meaningful experience in an environment which emphasises fun and freedom of expression. Furthermore, the performamce at the end is a great opportunity to capture some special video footage to look back on in years to come!

For the parents/ guardians of the birthday child, I aim for my parties to be as stress-free as possible. They organise the food, decorations and party bags, and I pretty much sort the rest! Hopefully this means that whilst I lead the dancing, they can relax a little, enjoy the party and of course take plenty of photos.

If you're interested in finding out more do check out the 'Parties' page on the website. Especially in the chilly, wet weather, dance parties are a weatherproof party option, so get in touch!
