Arts Workshop with Stems!

I think it's safe to say our first Arts Workshop was a great success!

This workshop was a collaboration between myself and Kate, who runs Stems florist. Kate and her family have been friends of RMB Dance since the beginning. We were so excited to come together, and share our skills and passions in a workshop.

The main aim for us was to create a fun yet calm environment in which the children could enjoy dancing together, being creative and trying something new. Many of the children had never tried flower arranging before, so seeing them really engaging with it and enjoying experiencing something new was just wonderful.

For me, something that really stood out was the calmness throughout the afternoon. Despite the workshop being fully booked, to me there was never a sense of it being overwhelmingly busy or chaotic. This is exactly what we were aiming for.

I enjoyed glancing around throughout the afternoon and seeing every child calm, engaged, happy, and freely expressing themselves. Of course there was lots of letting out of energy in the dance section! I think it was a really nice mix of energetic dancing/ activity, and calm art work.

Something else I really liked was seeing the children bonding throughout the afternoon. We had a full range of ages, and it was lovely to see them all mixed in together, supporting and respecting each other, and just enjoying being together.

Being something new, I was especially keen to hear the children's feedback at the end of the afternoon. The overriding statement was it was "so much fun" and they would love another one!

Kate and I have lots of ideas for future workshops, so keep your eyes peeled! Check out Kate and her beautiful flowers at Stems:
